HUDSON VALLEY PSYCHODRAMA INSTITUTE ~2009
Directing Cohort forming soon~ Trainer: Rebecca Walters, MS TEP The Directing Cohort creates a community of learners committed to personal and professional growth. It provides a safe place in which to develop spontaneity in the role of director which includes being the producer, the social investigator, the group facilitator, the analyst/guide, the conflict manger, the sociometrist and more. After each two-hour psychodrama we will spend an hour devoted to processing each session with an emphasis on both theory and practice. This training offers the chance to take a look at what you are doing that works well (and why it works!). We will also take a look at where you get stuck in the process of directing (and why you get stuck in that particular spot). As a group, we look at psychodrama theory and how it can inform our choices of action to further facilitate the drama. It gives you the chance to hone your craft as well as a safe place to be protagonist in your own drama. Prerequisite: 500 hours of training and have attended at least one previous directing intensive at HVPI. It is also expected that you will have previously directed several full psychodramas or have permission of the trainer. The psychodrama community is rich with diversity of background and theoretical orientation. Because your fellow group members will have trained with a variety of trainers, discussions will be enriched by a variety perspectives and training backgrounds. It also offers a great practice session for your on-site for those of you who are getting close to certification. For those who already are certified, this Core offers a chance to hone your craft as a director as well as have the chance to be protagonist of your own drama.
